MY WHITE WEDNESDAY # 2

YYY***YYY
Wow, time really flies! One week's gone and our White Wednesday appointment is already here.
Will I be up to it? First of all I would like to thank you all so very much for your sweet encouraging words. I do enjoy this weekly appointment very much and must also say that I now look at things under a different perspective: whatever I see I immediately tend to figure out a useful "final application" for my blog and there I go with the now familiar click of my digital camera! Isn't that a bit quaint?

Today I want to start my WW post with this marvelous tea set.
Mary, I finally made up my mind and bought it.
No overtime at work today to make sure I'd reach the thrift shop in time to buy the tea set I had seen yesterday (it was quite expensive for being a second-hand six-cup set - 46 euros - but it was love at first sight and decided to pamper myself a little bit with a self-bought gift). It isn't exactly what you'd call white, rather cream if you prefer but I was in the mood for a little show-off of my wonderful find hence decided to include it in my WW pics. How do you like it Mary?
I love the green floral decor inside and outside the cup and golden border. And because of its delicate shape the teapot is so full of charm .

Here's my granny's embroidered teatowel and napkins. soooooo lovely, especially if accompanied by these fine fruit salad cups with a golden rim. They were so much in fashion when my parents got married and have quite a few . Love them and decided to keep them rather than give them away just for a handful of Euros. They can add to my table that special touch, n'est-ce pas?

YYY***YYY
And now another teapot which is all that's remained, together with the sugar pot and creamer, of a set which belonged to my mom. I find it so sweet, and that soft-colored painted rose is just perfect for every nook in the house.
YYY***YYY
And now antique handtowels galore. Thought they have been kept in a chest they still smell like marseille soap and that brings me back in time and the sweetest of my childhood memories come back. Since the premature death of my younger sister, father and, last year, also of my mom, I've tent to remove all memories: both pleasant and unpleasant. I guess this is the way my sould can cope with the deep sorrow that these losses have brought by. But with the smell of towels and bed linens it is different...memories peep out of my little head and the beautiful things I seemed to have forgotten shout as loud as they can that they are still there.

Look at these two copper thingies: one is a pot and the other a watercan. Aren't they just darling? I still have so many of them in the basement which once had belonged to my late grandmother who past away 25 yeear ago at the age of 94.YYY***YYY

And more handtowels
The cup is an antique Japanise tea cup. My husband's aunt was, in her younger years, engaged to a very handsome Japanese guy and the teacups had been handed over to her by the man's grandmother. The porcelain is so thin that you can see a Japanese design on the bottom. She gave me two of them when we got married.

Have a closer look at the decor inside the cup. It's simply beautiful. YYY***YYY
Laces and mother-of-pearl buttons: my all-time favorites.
I no longer do crochet as my eye are getting quite weak, despite my age and the glasses I've been wearing over the past decade. but still I like to admire all of them with a bit of regret.

A photo of my mom on her Holy Communion day. Made this "Shabby-Chic Style" frame for this photo last spring

And last but ot least, before I go to bed (it's nearly 1 o'clock in Italy), here's a pleasant olfactory treat with these nice smelling soap bars. This should be aromatherapy, nicht war?
I wish you all a HaPpY WhItE WeDnEsDaY!!!
Hope to hear from you
Blessings
Y Rita

  5. Hi Rita. Thanks for your visit to my blog. You certainly don't look to be a novice. I would like to do so much with photos, but just don't have the time to really play around. It's now taken me hours just to change my header and my background. I get bored with one look and so have already changed it up several times. My cousin does the same thing! I should be in bed now as it is 12:30 pm. Way past my bedtime. I am such an old fogey when it comes to sleeping. You have such great treasures handed down from your family and from the past. So sorry to hear about your losses. Your photos are fantastic. I want to take more time to look through your blog but I can't keep my poor eyes open any longer. My husband has been away in France this week and will arrive at 3 am or so, which means not much time to sleep now. Wishing you all the best. Please do visit again. :) Peace & blessings, Tammy
