TEA CUP TUESDAY # 8

Carissime,

sono passate settimane dal mio ultimo post...sono veramente una pigrona. ma credetemi, mi siete mancate tutte così come mi sono mancati i vostri meravigliosi post.

Vi ringrazio per le parole di incoraggiameno per gli esami di mia figlia e sono più che lieta di annunciare che ... è andata benissimo.
Ora si gode il suo meritato riposo in attesa delle vacanze i montagna tutti insieme nel mese di luglio. ancora 3 settimane di lavor eppoi... si parte!!!

Saltando da un argomento piacevole ad un altro, eccoci arrivati adun altro tea cup tuesday.

stavolta è stato facile trovare il soggetto giusto per il mio post: le mie tazze transferware della Johnson Bros Old Britain Castles ed il mio piccolo servizio mix and match composto da pezzi di vari potters inglesi.

L'ho già detto in precedenza: adoro il transferware e corro il rischio di diventare noiosa. perdonatemi ed accettate il mio sfoggettino di questa sera. sono pezzi di poco valore, ma ma a me piacciono ugualmente. E' stato divertente girovagare per i mercatini puntando come un cane da caccia tutti i venditori che tenevano del transferware per strappare loro un prezzo d'occasione e tornare a casa con il mio tesoro. E non pensiate che la caccia si sia interrotta: sono fermamente intenzionata a mettere insieme un servizio di piatti di transferware e potete scommetterci che prima o poi lo farò!

My Dearest,

haven't posted in ages: i'm such a lazy one, but I've missed each of you as well as your beautiful and inspiring posts.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement on my daughter's exams and I'm so proud to announce that she did awesome and we are all so happy.

Now she can rest until mid September when she will start high school and meantime she's dreaming about our forthcoming holiday in SudTyrol early in August. Three weeks of work to go and then I'll finally be able to enjoy my vacation.

And now, from one fun topic to another, here we are again with another Tea Cup Tuesday.

It's been quite easy this time to choose what to show as I love transferware and had some nice pics right at hand (had taken some for my new blog header photo several weeks back).

What I'll show tonight is two Johnson Bros Old Britain Castles trios mixed and matched with pieces from other English potters. They are of little value I guess although I did spend quite some money to buy them. The fun part is flea market treasure hunting though. Going from market to market aiming at those vendors - very rare I must say - who sell English transferware trying to get a bargain price to bring home a new treasure each time.

I've got quite some pieces so far but my next move will be put together dinnerware for six. will be hard and expensive but you can bet I'll make it. I might be a lil lazy but I'm a determined middle aged lady...

TEA CUP TUESDAY # 7

Carissime Bloggherine,

sono iniziati gli esami di terza media questa settimana qui da Rita's Shabby Chic Rose e la tensione corre sull filo. Mia figlia è molto agitata (eh, come la capisco... io sono stata perennemente agitata agli esami, laurea compresa) ed ero un pò incerta se postare oppure no, D'altro canto un'altra settimana senza un post non poteva proprio andare e, come oramai mia abitudine, mi sono seduta al computer piuttosto tardi, quando la bimba dorme, la cagnolona è sistemata, pomatina sugli occhi compresa, ed è caduto il silenzio o quasi qui nell'appartamento.

Hello my sweet bloggerettes,

intermediate school examinations have started here at Shabby Chic Rose and there's a lot of tension. My teenager daughter is quite scared, anxious and tense (oh my, do I understand her. it was like this with examinations for me all the way from elementary school to my dissertation). I was therefore a little uncertain whether I should post or let go "again", but I thought to my self that another week without posting was absolutely a must-not!.

It's all nearly quiet here in the apartment: my chores all done, my daughter is sleeping already and the dog has been administered her eye medication for a minor insect bite.

It's been a tough day at the office. already had my plan to leave on time to run some errands in peace when the boss came with some work which caused me to leave at 7:10... too late for any errand which, much to my regret, will have to wait until tomorrow.

Di nuovo l'ultimo mercatino dell'antiquariato prima dell'estate sarebbe stato una delusione se non fosse per alcuni piattini di transferware che ho avuto per 3 euro e questa bellissima tazza di Richard Ginori che mi è sembrata proprio il pezzo ideale per il post di oggi.

Amo molto le tazze grandi ed accoglienti con i decori sobri ed i colori tenui et voilà non potevo trovare di meglio.

Spero vi piaccia. io l'ho immediatamente collocata sul tavolo antico nel salone dove tengo in esposizione le cose più delicate e che vi permangono a lungo.

Again the last flea before the summer break was quite a disappointment. It would have been a total disappointment if it weren't for some pretty transferware saucers which I got for 2 euros each and this lovely Richard Ginori teacup which was only 5 euros. It's not so old but it was love at first sight.

I adore large and inviting teacupt with delicate floral decors in soft colors, and this one seemed right the one I needed to have -and also perfect for our weekly apppointment eh eh eh .

Hope you like it. I immediately placed on my antique table in my sitting room. that's a table where I normally place my most delicate lovelies and things tend to sit there for ever.

Carissime amiche,
è passata un'altra settimana ed è già martedì... il nostro Tea Cup Tuesday di Martha e Terri. Mentre girovagavo per l'appartamento alla ricerca di una tazza da mostrare questa sera, mi sonoo imbattuta in questa coppia di tazze di porcellana giapponesi, con i loro deliziosi piattini di bamboo.
Appartenenti ad un servizio di non so quanti pezzi, una volta arrivate al misero numero di due mi sono state regalate da mia suocera. avevo completamente dimenticato di averle, così come avevo dimenticato quanto fossero belle e nobili. se vista controluce, traspare il volto di una geisha. Una vera preziosità.

it's already one week since my last post and being Tuesday we are ready for the great fun of Martha's and Terri's Tea Cup Tuesday. Altough I'm very tired today and all I can think of is going to bed, I couldn't miss joining the fun.
While I was looking around the apartment for something to be shown tonight I realized I had a wonderful couple of Japanese bone china cups that had been given to me by my mother in law some twenty years ago, before the entire set turned into debris.
I love the set. find it so elegant and refined and if you expose the bottom of the cup to a source of light, through the porcelain you'll see the beautiful face of a geisha. A truly pretty effect and two very beautiful cups with their bamboo saucers. I love their turquoise color and the dainty oriental flower bouquets on the inside of the cup. I'm so glad they ended up in my hands, and could make good use of them for our tea cup tuesday.

TEA CUP TUESDAY # 5

Mie dolcissime amiche, dopo una breve e sofferte pausa dal blog eccomi tornata per l'appuntamento del martedì di teacup tuesday, ospitato con la grazia che le contraddistingue, da Martha e Terri. E' un appuntamento divertente in quanto mi prende proprio dal mio lato debole: le tazze da thè di ogni provenienza e foggia ed eccomi nuovamente a condividere altri due dei miei tesori. Purtroppo come potete osservare ho avuto qualche problemuccio con la macchina fotografica (o forse con la mie inettutudine ah ah ah) e pertanto le foto non rendono giustizia a questi piccoli capolavori.
Il primo trio non è marcato, ma lo trovo così delizioso, con il suo manico così prezioso, i tenui boccioli di rosa ed il piattino da dolce di un verde acqua dalicatissimo e dalla forma inconsueta.

Mi dear sweet bloggy friends, much to my regret had to take a break from blogging but I'm glad it didn't last too long. I'm a real blogaholic I'm afraid and cannot stay away from blogging too long, thank God!
It's Tuesday again and here's another marvelous opportunity to join in the fun of Martha and Terri's Tea Cup Tuesday. I'll soon run out of cups to show but nevertheless I decided to show you two of my treasures today.Had some problems with my digital camera and the pics I've taken do not do my pretties justice. Or maybe, after such a long time without blogging I simply forgot how to take good photos LOL.
The first one doesn't have a backmark and the potter is unknown. Still I love it for its precious handle, the golden rim, the dainty delicate rosebuds and the dessert place in its unusual shape, all with a hint of aqua color...

Il secondo trio è un Paragon. Non ho nulla da dire se non che è anche esso delizioso. La demitasse è impreziosita dai decori e dalle innumerevoli roselline che la circondano. I colori, come piace a me, sono delicati, romantici e femminili.

The second trio is a Paragon. Nothing to comment apart from the fact that it is absolutely delightful. The demitasse is made very precious by the golden decors, the incredible roses all around the cup, sauce and dessert plate, and the colors, as I like them so, are soft, romantic and feminine.

TEACUP TUESDAY # 4

Ebbene, un'intera settimana è volata ed eccoci ancora una volta all prese con il delizioso appuntamento del teacup tuesday. ci ho preso proprio gusto, devo ammetterlo, poichè posso fare sfoggio delle mie, seppur modeste, collezioni di tazze da te.
Per questa occasione ho deciso di condividere con voi delle tazze di porcellana inglese dal decoro orientale ereditata dalla mia mamma. Sono finissime ed il decoro, così delicato e discreto, le rende uniche.
Tirate fuori la vostra tazza preferita, mettete a bollire l'acqua, lasciate riposare il thè ed unitvi a me per una buona tazza di thè. Dato l'orario in Italia (io sono sempre la ritardataria) sarebbe meglio una buona tisana rilassante per prepararci per la notte. In ogni caso , qualunque sia la vostra scelta, mettetevi comode e soffermatevi con me da rita's shabby chic rose. Sarò deliziate di avervi qui per una serata tra ragazze.

Well my dear friends, it looks like it's been again one week without posting. I need to be hit on the hands I'm afraid... I'm so exhausted though gals as after work we visited two houses and came home quite late to find my DD feeling sick. We fear it might be appendicitis and we'll go see our family doctor first thing tomorrow. hope we'll be alright during the night.
Nevertheless, no matter what, I couldn't miss Martha and Terri's Tea Cup Tuesday appointment as I'm truly having a whole lot of fun showing off my small collection of tea cups. This time I wanted to share with you my oriental decor English china cups - actually the whole set, hope it's allowed LOL.
They were passed down to me by my mom and I find them so unique: could be the very fine porcelain, the golden accents, the delicate and soft-colored floral decor... hard to tell, but this is what I was in the mood for today and chose them among many others .
So, take your fave cup, boil some water, brew some tea of your choice and join me for tea tonight. Again, given the local time in Italy it'd be more appropriate to go for a herbal tea . However, whatever your choice will, be I'll be delighted to have you over for a girls' tea night at rita's shabby chic rose.

benvenute ancora una volta al mio terzo appuntamento con il ta cup tuesday. Mi ha preso molto questa iniziativa in quanto adoro collezionare tazze da te inglesi e bavaresi e riesco così ad esprimermi al meglio (nonchè trovare sempre ulteriori scuse per ampliare le mia collezione LOL).
Domenica scorsa ho fatto una capatina fuori regione e fuori programma al mercarino di Viterbo. Il programma parlava di 120 espositori e mi sono detta che era una occasione da non perdere.
Arrivati sul posto, le bancarelle saranno state una ventina - figuratevi l'entusiasmo dopo un'ora di macchina per raggiungere questo prodigioso mercatino.
Stavo per l'appunto per andarmene quando mi sono imbattuta nella bancarella di una gentilissima signora inglese che insieme a suo marito importa porcellane inglese veramente molto belle. Li mi sono fermata per circa un ora mentre il mio maritino aspettava con pazienza in via di esaurimento e totale indifferenza per il mio zompettare da un oggetto ad un altro.
sono tornata a casa con un bel bottino: 2 trio con decoro floreale che vi mostrerò stasera, una tazza e piattino della Royal Albert (pattern Old Country Rose) e tanti piattini scompagnati di transferware e altri sempre con decoro floreale. Anche questa volta sono tornata a casa soddisfatta ma con il portafoglio vuoto.
Le passioni sono proprio queste e l'importante è non avere rimpianti per aver rinunciato a qualche cosa di raro, prezioso o semplicemente bello.

welcome once again to tea cup tuesday graciously hosted by Martha and Terri.
I adore this appointment as I adore collecting teasets and teacups of all sorts and this gives me the opportunity to always indulge in a new purchase when i feel I'm running out of cups to show LOL.
On this note,on Sunday, on the spur of the moment we (I) decided to visit a fleamarket out of our region which, from what I had read, seemed to be one of the best in that region with some 120 vendors.
I was so excited that mused during all the car ride trying to imagine (and hope) which treasures I'd be able to bring home.
When we reach the place a pang of disappointment nearly paralized me: nearly 1 hour drive for less than 20 vendors with a whole bunch of rubbish. Oh meine Gute... I could have definitely spent my Sunday differently, I told myself...
I was about to leave when I bumped into an English lady and her husband who import bone china directly from England.My mood immediately picked up and cheerfully spent nearly one hour hopping from one item to another while my poor DH was running out of patience and understanding for my passion.
What's more important though is that I made it home with a whole bunch of treasures: 2 gorgeous rose decor trios, which I'm sharing today, an orphaned Royal Albert Old Country Rose pattern cup and saucer, several dessert dishes, both transferware and floral decor.
So glad i went after all. I could have purchased more items as they were really one of a kind and indeed my faves,, but my hands were full and my purse was empty.
This is what passions are for, is it not... yielding to them not having to say "I'm so sorry I left that wonderful piece behind...". What do you think gals?
meantime, take some peeks of my lovelies which I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
Again they are not very old, simply vintage fom the 60's but I find them so adorable and the pattern is sooooooooo sweet I had to have them.

TEA CUP TUESDAY # 2

Wow, è già Tea Cup Tuesday... almeno lo è ancora in questa parte di mondo!

Non mi sono resa conto di non aver postato per un'intera settimana, ma il tempo mi è davvero mancato avendo utilizzato tutto il tempo libero a mia disposizione dopo il lavoro per cercare una nuova casa: quella dei miei sogni. ho letto annunci, risposto, visitato, contattato agenzie.... un vero e proprio secondo lavoro che fino ad ora non ha portato a nulla. comincio a perdere le speranze.

Tornando a noi, è con grande piacere che torno a partecipare al Tea Cup Tuesday ospitato da Martha e Terri per condividere con voi la mia grande passione: collezionare tazze da thè rigorosamente diverse una dall'altra.

Quella che vi mostro oggi l'ho acquistata mesi fa ad un mercatino per soli (sooli????????????) 20 euro con il suo delizioso bricchetto da latte ed il doppio piattino.

Inutile dirvi che la trovo adorabile altrimenti non me la sarei portata orgogliosamente a casa (faccio così con tutti i "tesori" di altri tempi che varcano la soglia del io minuscolo appartamento).

Non è molto vecchia e probabilmente di poco valore ma mi piace la sua linea sinuosa, il manico eleborato ed il decoro floreale in varie sfumature di blue ed oro zecchino. Che dire... non riesco a resistere alla porcellana con decori floreali. Mi sembra porti la primavera anchè in pieno inverno.

Wow gals, it's already Tea Cup Tuesday (or rather nearly over, I must admit, in this part of the world!! )

I haven't just now realized that one whole week has gone past without posting but time really flies by, as I've been busy spending all my spare time after work convulsively looking for a new home. I've read zillions both in the local papers and on the internet, visited houses - new and old - by the hundreds, contacted real estate agents... It's nearly as exhausting as having a full-time second job. I'm also a wee bit disappointed as the house of my dreams still seems quite far away and must confess that I'm nearly loosing hope.

Well, won't bore you gals with this and, on to a lighter note, here I am again joining the fun of sharing my fave collectibles - tea cups.

What I'm sharing today is an orphaned cup & double saucer and a small creamer which I bought at a flea market some months back for 20 euros only (only??????????????).

It's not very old nor of great value but I like it very much. The handle is adorable and so is the floral decor in varying shades of blue and gold. Did I tell you that I particularly enthuse over floral decors in china, with roses being my favorite?

OMGosh, it's nearly midnight and better go to bed if I want to look as fresh as a china rose when I wake up in the morning.

alcune di voi già sapranno che tra le mie passioni (molte in verità) vi sono le tazze da thé in porcellana. Tre le mie preferite le porcellane inglesi (adoro il transferware!!!!!!!!!!) e quelle bavaresi.

Pur possedendo delle bellissime tazze inglesi molto antiche, questa sera ho deciso di fare la mia entrée nel Tea Cup Tuesday ospitato da Martha di Martha's Favorites immortalando una semplicissima tazza da te vintage della Arzberg il cui color crema, la forma rotondeggiante ed il decoro di delicatissimi boccioli di rose dai colori tenui ed invitanti hanno più di ogni altra attratto la mia attenzione per questa occasione speciale.

I decided to join the fun of Tea Cup Tuesday hosted by Martha of Martha's Favorites tonight. As you probably all know by now I have a passion for china in general, tea cups being my faves.

I simply adore English china (I have a thing for transferware!!!!!!!!!!!!) and own quite a number of mismatched, one-of-a-kind pieces - antique, vintage or simply new ones which I keep in my china cupboard just for the simple pleasure of looking at them time and time again, whenever in desperate search for beauty in my everyday. Age doesn't really matter when choosing to buy one cup rather than another, as long as I'm intrigued by the pattern - flowers decors being those I love most. However I must admit that I'm quite impartial to certain potters such as allertons, aynsley, paragon, roslyn, redfern & drakeford, just to name a few. Who wouldn't be, after all, when in front of marvellous collectors' cups from those wonderful days of old?

I also love Bavarian china and for today's occasion I decided to share a vintage cream colored Arzberg tea cup, sugar bowl and creamer which were a lucky find of 9 cups plus creamer and sugar bowl that I got from a secod hand store for less than 7 Euros. I fell in love with the chubby profile and clean curves of the set, the soft pale colors and inviting rose buds decor. It may not be one of my best sets and certainly not the most precious,

but I sure love it and thought it'd be the right one for my first entrée in this lovely weekly appointment.
