SWEET TREAT

Carissime,
Sapete bene che sono una bravissima   pessima cuoca ma in realtà mi piace cucinare dolcetti semplici che possano allietare il difficile palato della mia figlia adolescente con delle sane merende fatte in casa. I muffin si prestano bene essendo facili da preparare ed anche abbastanza veloci … ebbene lo confesso: odio trovarmi poi con la cucina ingombra di ciotole, piatti, utensili da lavare e riporre…


Nel pomeriggio io e la mia adoratissima figlia ci siamo cimentate nella preparazione di muffin con cioccolato e banane. Una vera squisitezza.
Vi do la ricetta per 12 muffin perchè vale proprio la pena provarli.
Ingredienti
• 220 g di farina
• 100 g di zucchero
• 5 g di lievito per dolci
• 5 g di bicarbonato
• 3 g di sale
• 1 uovo
• 120 ml di olio di semi
• 120 ml di yogurt bianco
• 5 ml di estratto di vaniglia
• 2 banane  ben mature
• 125 g di gocce di cioccolato fondente


In una ciotola mescolare farina, zucchero, lievito, bicarbonato e sale. In un’altra ciotola mescolare l’uovo, l’olio, lo yogurt e la vaniglia ed aggiungere, mescolando con cura, il contenuto della prima ciotola. Aggiungere in fine le banane schiacciate grossolanamente e le gocce di cioccolato. Riempire per ¾ gli stampini per muffin precedentemente imburrati e cuocere per 25 minuti in forno a 180° C. Lasciate raffreddare bene prima di estrarre dagli stampi.
Semplice, no?


As many of you know already I’m a  wonderful  very bad cook, this I must admit, but whenever in the mood I like to bake easy peasy cakes to please my picky and fussy teenage daughter with genuine home-made snacks. Not an easy task, but I have learned from experience that muffins are exactly what I need as they are quite easy and quick to make and require very little work afterwards. I hate to then have my kitchen full of dirty utensils by the dozens needing to be washed and put back where they belong.
As I was home early from work today my DD and I made some wonderful banana chocolate muffins. They turned out moist and delicious and made a nice Friday afternoon treat served with white tea in my vintage china.
The recipe for 12 large muffins:


Ingredients
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 1/2 cup plain yogurt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 ripe bananas
• 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips


In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, combine the egg, oil, yogurt and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in bananas and chocolate chips. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Le foto non sono un granché: mi sono divertita a pasticciare con PicMonkey che è un ottimo strumento g.r.a.t.u.i.t.o. ma ancora è pieno di misteri per me. Non che di solito le mie foto siano migliori... ma non è male come scusa!!!

E' stata una settimana piena di piacevoli sorprese per quanto concerne la porcellana. Primo in ordine di apparizione è stato il regalo ricevuto dalla mia collega tedesca Irene, la quale per uno scambio con dei calici di argento placcato, mi ha inviato un bellissimo servizio da caffè di porcellana rosa della Hutschenreuther. Notate la finezza del delizioso rilievo con delle piccolissime rose nonchè la minuscola rosellina con le sue foglie sul coperchio della zuccheriera... una vera delizia!

It looks I had a very good week in terms of one of my favorite things - china.
On Friday a marvellous a Hutschebreuther rosè porcelain coffee set arrived from my German colleague Irene. We had made a swap - 6 silverplated glasses for the Hutschenreuther set. It was a great deal (I guess I was the lucky one in the swap!).
Look at the very fine relief on the demittasse and the gentle little rose and leaves on the sugar bowl and on the coffee post lids. Such a treasure...

Trafficando a casa di Caterina, la mia amica del cuore, sono spuntati fuori vari servizi "importanti" da tè e da caffé della cui valore Caterina e suo marito Mario erano totalmente all'oscuro. Belle queste tazze della Royal Albert.

I was over at Caterina's, my best friend, yesterday and we found a quit a number of tea and coffee sets whose value was totally unknown to both Caterina and her husband. It was a real eye candy for me and as I happened to have my camera along (I always do) I took some pics. Didn't turn out that great, but they are good enough.

Il secondo fine-settimana di ogni mese ospita da noi il mercatino dell'antiquariato. Io ho la mia "fornitrice" di fiducia sul cui banco tutta la merce esposta ha il medesimo presso - 10 Euro.

Il mese scorso avevo acquistato, tra le varie cose, una deliziosa tazza da te della Winterling Bavaria con decoro in oro zecchino ed un prezioso decoro floreale all'interno. Questa volta ha superato se stessa riuscendo a procurarmene una seconda... eccezionale.

Last weekend was our monthly flea market appointment. I have my own supplier of china who offers all items on her stall for the same price - 10 Euros per piece.

Last month I was lucky enough to get a wonderful Winterling Bavaria teacup with golden rim and decor and a tiny flower decor inside. This time she really outdid herself and got me a second one which she kindly sold to me for 5 Euros only. I think she likes me by now!!

Questa tazza da potage è della Haviland, unico pezzo disponibile sul banco... meno male che ero là già all'apertura e mi sono resa utile nello scartare tutti i pezzi dagli scatoloni. Ho così potuto portarmi via tutto quello che era di mio intesse prima che il mercatino cominciasse ad affollarsi.

This Haviland France two-handled soup cup was nother lycky find. To tell you the truth i had reached the market ground long before the market was supposed to start and gave the lady a helping hand unpacking all her wonderful treasures. Pretty smart of me, wasn't it? I could so immediately see what I wanted to get long before other vendors and customers could set their eyes on them! Little old tricks...

Eccovi i due servizi scovati a casa di Caterina... molto particolari e preziosi. Del tutto ignari del loro valore (sono Richard Ginori della metà dell'ottocento, se non mi sbaglio) i poveretti, li avevano affastellati nella credenza soffocati da mille altri oggettini.

And the next two china sets are those i found at Caterina's. Quite ignorant on their value (Richard Ginori mid-1800's) the poor little owners had put them in a cabinet covered with hundreds of bric-a-brac... too bad they aren't willing to sell them to me, konw that they know how precious they are. On the other hand right now I have no space to diplay such treasures. Better wait until I find a larger home.

Ed ultimo ma non per questo meno importante, questa lattiera polacca vintage della Karolina acquistata al mercatino dell'usato per 2.50 Euro. La trovo adorabile con quei deliziosi piedini ed il decoro floreale.

And last, but not least, this vintage Karolina of Poland creamer which I bought at my fave thrift store for 2.50 Euros. It's very simple but I find it soooo cute though, with that sweet floral decor and those adorable little feet.

CANNELLA *** CINNAMON

"Cannella" è il nome di un delizioso negozio a conduzione familiare che si trova nel centro di Terni. Dal momento che me lo trovo strada nel tornare a casa a piedi dal centro, ogni occasione mi è grata per soffermarmi ad ammirare le vetrine e, a volte, anche ad acquistare. Una vera delizia per gli occhi e, entrandovi, anche per l'olfatto.
Una parte del negozio è dedicata alla vendita di prodotti bio - frutta e verdura - salsine e marmellate sia locali che di provenienza estera (Inghilterra e Francia la fanno da sovrane)
La saletta attigua, gestita da Daniela, è un vero è proprio regno dell'home decor, accessori e oggetti da regalo che vanno dal vintage allo shabby, oggetti deliziosi che vengono resi ancora più deliziosi e preziosi dell'esperta predisposizione con cui vengono collocati sin nelle più piccole nicchie del negozio, ed è qui che l'olfatto va inestasi, inebriato l'aroma delle spezie, dei te provenienti da tutto il mondo del cioccolato, e dello strordinario profumo dell'organza dei confetti e delle marmellate e gelatine di ogni tipo. Ci si ingrassa soltanto a guardare!!!
Daniela unisce la gestione del negozio alla attività di event planning (incluso il wedding planning), in cui il suo gusto e charm vengono costantemente messi alla prova nel creare eventi di gran classe e degni di essere ricordati nel tempo. La vedi lì alle prese con le vetrine sempre nuove dal momento che l'impatto visivo è di grande importanza, oppure nel suo studio a confezionare deliziose bomboniere, discutere i dettagli del matrimonio con i futuri sposi, oppure a prendersi cura dei fiori che a partire dal mese di settembre fanno part degli articoli in vendita. Non voglio tediarvi con le parole... le foto parlano da sole.

"Cinnamon" (Cannella) - what a cute name for a home-run store in the center of Terni. It's on my way home whenever I go downtown for some quick errand and I always stop by to do at least some free-of-charge windowshopping.
Part of the shop is dedicated to the sale of fresh organic produce, sauces, jams, cheese, tea, coffe and cookies produced both locally and abroad, with England and France playing an important role .
The nighboring room, run by Daniela, is the reign of vintage and shabby home decor. Precious little items are diplayed on the shelves with grace and an estraordinary style. Every little nook in the shop has its own display of cute treaures. Here you can truly find a gift for every occasion and for every budget.
And this is right here that olfact goes into a state of pure ectasis, inebriated by the heartwarming smell of spices, tea, coffee, chocolate in the most unimaginable forms - BTW she''s just announced to me that a new type of flower scented chocolate has been ordered - and the scent of organza with all those "confetti" (wedding almond confectionery) contained in old-style confectioner's jars . What she let me see as a "premiere" was a white chocolate square with a relief pink rose in the center". Can you imagine that? One can put on pounds by simply glancing... Whenever stepping into the shop you can see Daniela either working on a new arrangement of her goodies or working in her tiny studio on some event. Right, in fact, Daniela is also in the event planning business (especially weddings) and if you want your special event to be remembered for ever, well you are in the right hands. So, if you ever happen to be visiting Terni, make sure you find some time to drop by. You'll certainly love that place and won't regret a little detour from your ultimate destination .
Since mid-September Daniela is also selling fresh flowers in pots and the place is soooooooooooooo cute with those tiny french roses and heather pots gently placed in shabby pot holders.
Especially now that Christmas is approaching this is the right place to visit. It's your sure-fire key to success in buying things that will certainly be appreciated. She'll be online soon with her website, so do not forget to check my blog again for the link to her webpage.
