ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT & NUOVI TESORI / ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT & FLEA FINDS

Hello lovelies,
how's your weekend going so far? Hope it's not been wet like mine. Just for a change we have rain again. We had so much in the Fall and Winter and  it just does not seem to stop.
I'm such a lousy blogger, let me tell you. It's been nearly two months since my last post but trying to keep the work-family-house-blog balance can be very challenging at times.
However, with Winter gone for good I'm now full of energies and I'm again in the creating mode. So happy to be!
I did not tackle major projects yet (my secretary hutch still to be finished just to mention one) as my garage is still too cold to work in, but worked on small project that could be finished in just a few hours. So I grabbed my brushes and my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint pots and set happily  to work.
During my last visit to the Pissignano Flea Market I bumped into three vintage florentine trays that were selling for a few euro. They were in VGC but the color was definitely a no-no. That's where ASCP came in handy. Last year I had bought a sample pot of Scandinavian Pink which i did  not get to use simply because it was too bold for my color palette, so I mixed it with four parts of Old White and obtained a very nice soft pink which looked perfect to bring new life to one of my trays.
Here's the before (sorry about the blurred pic ):

I went for the "layered" effect to have the various paint colors peek through after the distressing, so I gave my tray one coat of Old White, one of Paris Gray and two of my pink recipe. Then sealed it with clear wax, dark wax and finally distressed it for the time-worn look I so much love. How do you like it?

And how do  you like my flea finds? I got the medallion for 5 euro (love the ornate brass
frame).  And the candlestand with prisms was actually a vintage nightstand lamp from which I removed the wires and the bulb socket.  I paid only 5 euro for the pair.
The wax seal is antique. It wasn't cheap, oh no, but I really had to have it.

Adoro il rosa!!!!
I so love pretty pinks!!!

L'adoro!
And since I had the brush in my hand and the right paint color ready, I gave the same beauty treatment to one of the vintage frames I brought home for 2 euro (it was my lucky day at the flea, wasn't it?). Gave it one coat of Pure White and two coats of pink, then sealed with clear wax. I rubbed in some dark wax, too to bring out the details and there was my new old frame. It is now home to an old yellowed  sheet music that I got for free from one of the vendors. Love it!

Ecco il prima:
Here's the before:

And here's after the ASCP magic treatment (again sorry for the bad pics but but really no natural light):

And with ode to Pink and to the fabulous ASCP I wish you all a great Sunday!

  5. Well done, Rita, it looks very pretty!
No doubt the sun will once appear in your part of the world.
It seems to be appearing here, but it remains cold, too cold. Nature is behind. I should clear out our garage as well, but it is not inviting when it is cold. It is stacked with stuff for the flea market, but now there is no flea market in the village ...... grrrrr ....
    Happy Sunday!
