A CACCIA DI TESORI *** FLEA MARKET TREASURE HUNTING

Carissime,

My dearest sweet ones,
first of all I would like to thank you all for your kind encouraging words when I was very concerned about my DD's health. both our family practitioner and the white cells count confirmed this was not a case of appendicitis, thank God. Could be some inflammation to to an excessive consumption of chocolate which we are now keeping more under control avoiding junk food and chocolate, at least for awhile. thank you for being so sweet! I love you all!
Despite my very tight schedule during the past weeks accompanied by the typical Spring slumber which has been a faithful companion from the moment I open my eyes in the morning to the very moment I switch my light off in the evenings, I didn't renounce to my fave weekend pastime: flea market treasure hunting.
I did find several nice things during my latest visits but won't share them all tonight. I've chosen a couple of unique things I simply adore, leaving the rest for the next posts.

Next to an antique porcelain hand painted oil lamp which I inherited from my grandmother, lies a nice pair of antique spectacles.
I had been wanting to buy a pair for a long time and finally the opportunity came right my way.
They are in very good condition and the optician's name can still be read on the spectacles' box. With some degree of ingenuity I made a search on the web in the vain hope to find some details on the origin of those lovelies but, as you can easily imagine: no success.

And this antique brass hotel reception service bell was another treasure I had long been looking for. Apparantely patience does yield good results at times and last week for only 5 euros I came across this prettie which immediately found its way to my apartment as well as the perfect location on the antique desk right at the entrance. When the button is pressed this lovely bell still resonates in the most pleasant way despite the years that have gone by. I should perhaps polish it but apart from the hours of elbow grease this would take me I love the patina which affords the bell the typical charm of bygone years.

Our local flea market and an antique market in a nearby town are taking place this weekend. wonder what treasures will come my way.

  14. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. It is a thrill to know that someone in Italy is reading what I write. It was fun, also, that your blog was in Italian because my husband had an Italian step-father who taught him to speak and read the language. It has been some time since he has had an opportunity to practice his Italian....so I had him read your blog. I didn't tell him about the English translations...I let him find that out for himself. He loved it! So, we both enjoyed your blog today!
