Questa sera Sylwia ci ha aperto la porta della sua accogliente casa di Varsavia (http://myshabbychic.blogspot.com/). Una vera delizia, una chiccheria (si scrive così?????????). Proprio il posto dove tornare dopo una faticosa giornata al lavoro e trascorrere una serata tranquilla immersi in un'atmosfera serena. Tonight Sylwia has been kind enough to open the door of her lovely apartment in Warsaw for us fellow bloggers (http://myshabbychic.blogspot.com/). It's so nice, cozy and chic - the right place to go back to after an exhausting day at work and spend a relaxing evening surrounded by a serene atmorsphere. Maybe a girls' night spent chatting while sipping a hot cup of tea?

I was taking some shots at a young lady's place (I'll be probably posting them this week-end) when she asked why I was so much into this blogging thing (BTW do i sound like a blogaholic??????????). Had to stop and think for a short while and then answered "I guess it's for the love of beauty and the desire to share it". What about you guys out there in the vastness of the blogosphere?

Ecco ciò che sono riuscita a portare a casa. Begli oggetto ma cari - e, per rendere le cos ancora più difficili, anche la mia adorata figlia adolescente ama gli asciugamani antichi, i centrini, i coprivassoio e quant'altro di simile. Non ho avuto altra scelta che regalarle una tovaglietta da thè con il monogramma ed un paio di raffinati polsini di fine pizzo di cui si era follemente innamorata. Assolutamente da avere... giudicate voi stessi.

Uno speciale ringraziamento alla mia modella preferita, mia figlia, che ha posato con grande pazienza e grazia. TVB Marti! Y

FLEA MARKET - MY BEAUTIFUL EXPENSIVE FINDS
Here's what I proudly brought home. Nice but expensive - and to make things even worse - my teenager daughter also loves antique towels, doilies, tray cloths and all the like). I had no choice but buy a monogrammed teatowel she had deeply fallen in love with and a pair of fine lace cuffs: absolutely a must have - see for yourselves!

Special thanks to my favorite model - my lovely daughter - who has sat quietly with great patience and grace! YYY

MERCATINO DELL'ANTIQUARIATO

Sarà stato forse il maltempo preannunciato che minacciava di rovinare la giornata agli espositori del mercatino dell'antiquariato, ma dovo dire che è stato piuttosto deludente.
Mi aspettavo di tornare a casa carica di veri affari invece non è stato così. Mi sono soffermata tra i banchi dei ricami, lenzuola e pizzi immiaginando che il vero affare stesse aspetttando proprio me ed invece prezzi alle stelle e per di più niente degno di nota. Sarà forse che sono sempre gli stessi venditori che mese dopo mese ripropongono sempre le stesse cose... chissà?????????

SUNDAY'S FLEAMARKET

Maybe all because of the weatherman forecasting rain on Sunday which discouraged some of the vendors from coming, my visit to our monthly fleamarket, so full of anticipation and hope to find great bargains to proudly bring home, turned out to be quite disappointing.

Same old vendors, same old stuff, outrageous prices.

Spent most of my time browsing through the linens 'n lace booth and eventually didn't come home totally empty-handed, but took along some nice finds (quite expensive too!) which you'll see in my next post.

CHE BENEDIZIONE LA DOMENICA

Per una volta cela siamo potuta prendere comoda almeno la domenica - la cagnolona ci ha lasciato riposare fino alle otto e, quindi, dopo la consueta passeggiata mattutina, si siamo potuti concedere un fuori programma: un bel caffè (d'orzo!!!) proprio come si deve. Ho tirato fuori il servizio buono, i pasticcini acquistati ieri ed ecco il tavolo perfetto per godersi una buona colazione. Ora siamo più che pronti per affrontare,come si conviene, il mercatino delle pulci.

Vedremo con quali tesori saremo in grado di tornare.

*** ****** *** SUNDAY, BLESSED SUNDAY
Quite unusual even for a Sundaty that we were able to linger in bed until eight. Our dog didn't appear to be in a hurry for her morning walk and that made me very happy.
Once back home I thought why not treat ourselves to a chic Sunday coffee (Barley coffee!!). Set our coffee table, took our finest china, and arrange in a platter the scrumptuous pink cookies we bought yesterday. Isn't that just adorable?
The perfect way to enjoy a quiet and relaxing Sunday breakfast to make ourselves ready to head for the local monthly flea market.
I'll show you in my next post the finds we will be able to proudly bring home!

E questa volta, sempre con molta discrezione, siamo entrati nell'accogliente casa di Alexandra ("Modern spotyka vintage"), che mi ha autorizzato ad utilizzare le sue belle immagini. VISITING AGAIN THE WELCOMING POLAND
This time, again very discreetly, we are visiting with Alexandra who has cordially open her adorable home to us bloggers ("Modern spotyka vintage"). She was so kind to give me permission to post her photos. Guess you will find these pics from her blog also very inspiring. Her blog http://modernmeetsvintage.blogspot.com is no doubt worth visiting often. She told me she already has a whole bunch of new ideas and I'm very curious to see what she will come up with. For sure beautiful images and inspiration.
This is the fun part of the blogosphere I guess: you can easily come to discover new worlds that otherwise would have never been within easy reach - of sight of course!!!

Ho avuto il piacere di scoprire alcuni blog polacchi molto belli ed interessanti.

Li troverete già elencati tra i mei blog preferiti e, sono sicura, converrete con me che sono semplicemente deliziosi. L'arredamento delle case polacche, molto simile a quello delle dache russe - è estremamente accogliente ed anche ricercato pur essendo "country". Godetevi le immagini.

A POLITE GLANCE AT POLISH COUNTRY HOMES

I've bumped into some beautiful Polish blogs that are definitely worth visiting. They are already listed on my fav blogs list. I find the Polish country home decor very close to that of the typical Russian dachas - comfy and very cozy, capable of inspiring true warmth despite the very cold winters. Simply adorable, n'est-ce pas?

LAZY WHITE SUNDAY

Volevo veramente inserire un post agli inizi di questa settimana, invece, a causa di problemi con la connessione internet a casa ho dovuto attendere. Speriamo i problemi siano risolti definitivamente.

Avevo grandi progetti per lo scorso fine-settimana... cose carine da fare. Per di più sono finalmente riuscita a portarmi a casa la mia vecchia macchina da cucire ed un sacco di progetti carini fanno capolino nella mia testa, così come ultimare alcuni progetti di pittura che hanno atteso che terminassi i miei lavori con la porcellana fredda. Ebbene, proprio quando il fine-settimana era alle porte ecco che realizzo di avere una montagna di lavori domestici da fare - sapete quelle cose noiose arretrate, lasciate li in attesa che arrivi il momento propizio per occuparsene. E quindi il bucato delle lenzuola, gli asciugamani le tovaglie che, naturalmente, sono stati poi stirati a dovere. ecco quindi che la mi agognatissima domenica si è trasformata in una "pigra" bianca domenica da poter condividere con voi.

Speriamo il prossimo fine settimana sia migliore. finalmente dopo la pausa estiva il mercatino mensile dell'antiquariato riapre i battenti.saràdivertente. almeno da immortalare con la mia inseparabile macchina fotografica. Chissà potrebbe uscire un argomento interessante per il blog.

Wanted to post earlier this week but something was wrong with my internet connection at home so had to wait a little while. Hope it's now fixed for good.
I had been eagerly looking forward to the weekend last week, with so many plans on my head - lots of nice things to do. BTW I finally managed to bring my old sewing machine home and wanted to do some creative sewing as well as finish some of my old painting projects now that I'm done with cold porcelain . And then, just when the weekend was at my door -finally free from all the office trouble - I realized I had loads of housework to do - chores that I had left behind hoping that some "more suitable" time would come. So - no choice, had to do my weekend laundry: bed linens, table cloths, towels. And once that was done, to top that off all had to be then ironed . Hence, as it turned out all I had was a "lazy" white Sunday that I want to share with you.
Hope my next weekend will be better. After the Summer period, our monthly flea market will open again so something fun to be looking forward to.

Did I tell you that I L U V roses??????????? Coming home from the office today I decided to stop by the florist and buy myself my favourit roses as a treat to mentally prepare for the weekend ahead.

Too bad it's still terribly hot and the poor little things barely made it home.

It feels so good to still be able to look at my grandmother's antique furniture I was so fond of in my youngest years. And all of a sudden, as if time had generously stopped for a wee moment, the happiest of my childhood memories slowly come back - the sweet comforting smells, the soft colors, the laces, the ribbons ... Life was so easy back then
