With the rising popularity of e-readers, have you also replaced your traditionally printed books with the electronically downloaded ones?
Do you believe that paper books could be eventually rendered obsolete?
I am among those believing that although technology is playing an ever increasing role in our daily lives, there’s nothing like the feel, the touch and the smell of a printed book and the joy of looking through the pages of old, treasured books can never be achieved with an e-reader.
I grew up among thousands of books, with my father having one of the largest in-house libraries I have ever seen and I could possibly imagine, and am an avid reader myself, having collected a sizable amount of book over the years.
I like to keep piles of books on my nightstand and a floor-to-ceiling library was among the very first pieces of furniture entering my new home.
Don’t you also believe that bookshelves and large libraries, shabby or vintage, trad or modern, make a great addition to any room décor?

Dear Rita, you're right - REAL books are irreplaceable. Nevertheless, it was my wish to get an e-book and I got it from my husband as Christma-gift. For travel, it is wonderful because I can take 1000 books, without much weight penalty. Here is my post about my e-book:

Hello Rita,
RispondiEliminaI love the little vignettes! I don't think old books would ever loose it's charm. The e-readers are easy, but if I love a book, I have to have it. I got a few old Dutch ones from the early 1900's: Gone with the wind, Dik Trom and Ot en Sien. The last two books have lovely drawings on their covers as well as in the books. They're stacked on the windowsill for displaying old china and an old iron with a lovely wooden handle. I'm gonna browse trough your blog with some tea for now.
Have a lovely day!
Wow what a library!
RispondiEliminaHave a great weeke to you Rita!

RispondiEliminaHi Rita! You've shown some wonderful libraries here. Yes, I have to agree. Nothing like a real book.
RispondiEliminaSuch inspiring images of books & bookcases! I agree - there's nothing like the feel of a real book, and I would never get an e-reader.
RispondiEliminaThank you so much for your lovely visit recently,
Susan
I am fascinated with books, and especially on bookshelves..bookshelves full. My eldest son has his office full of books floor to ceiling.. his collection is amazing. I started buying books for my children at an early age.. My eldest son Manuel..I could never get him away from them.
