Un tesoro del mercatino dell'antiquariato / A precious flea market find
Buona festa a tutti!
Spero stiate tutti godendo del tempo magnifico e delle temperature estive.
Era già da qualche settimana che volevo condividere con voi un recente acquisto dal mercatino mensile dell'antiquariato. Si tratta di una bella tovaglia ricamata a mano che ho portato a casa con me per pochi euro.

I've been meaning to share with you a recent flea market find for some time now. it's a gorgeous hand embroidered table cloth that I took home with me for a few euros.
In realtà avevo preso male le misure e pensavo di utilizzarla, anche se rettangolare, come tovaglia sul tavolo rotondo del salone, ma una volta aperta e provata era decisamente troppo grande: troppo larga e troppo lunga... Ma si era ormai fatto troppo tardi per riportarla indietro: certamente i venditori avevano già tolto i loro banchi quindi che fare? Ci ho fatto su una bella pensata e poi, dopo averla lavata e stirata ho trovato per lei un'altra collocazione sul mobile basso del salone.
Che ne dite: come ci sta?
This rectangular table cloth was meant to be used on my round dining table in the dining room but when I took it home I realized it was way toooooooo big: definitely too wide and too long... what to do with it? it was already late in the evening so too late to bring it back as the vendors had most certainly already gathered their treasures and left. So I gave it some good thinking and came out with a new idea. The table cloth was just perfect for my buffet. I washed it, ironed it immediataly and put it where it belonged.
What do you think?

Lo studio / Home office
Salve a tutti,
vorrei condividere con voi oggi alcune immagini di studio che ho trovato girovagando nel web.
Per tanti anni da me sottovalutato, mi sono resa conto cambiando casa quanto fosse importante avere uno spazio dove poter collocare il computer, il necessario per lavorare anche da casa, i libri più usati; insomma uno spazio tutto mio dove poter lavorare. Non avendo comunque un grande spazio a disposizione come potete vedere ho dovuto optare per uno studio piccolo piccolo e molto semplice che però ad onor del vero fa bene il suo dovere.
Tuttavia vi lascio anche alcune immagini un po' per tutti i gusti, dallo shabby chic al nordico contemporaneo passando per l'industriale, il behemian ed il classico. Quale è il vostro stile preferito?

Today I would like to share with you some pics of home offices / work spaces, however you may want to call them, that I found surfing the web. They go from shabby chic to bohemian, and from industrial to contemporary scandinavian. Hope you will enjoy them. And BTW, what's your favorite?
I never gave much thought to the idea of how importan having a home office would be until I moved into the new apartment six years ago. Maybe because my previous apartment was a very small one with no enough space for an office. As you can see my office now is quite small and very simple but it's got everything I need and what's more important it does its job well.

Un sapone davvero miracoloso e ritorno a bloglandia / A "miracle" soap and back to blogland

Purtroppo non ho delle foto del prima ma solo del dopo ma fidatevi di me... potete vedere il risultato sul mio giacchino.
Ho trovato che questo sapone si può acquistare anche da Amazon. Lo trovate qui. Il prezzo è modico ed anche se ci sono delle piccole spese di spedizione ne vale proprio la pena.
Modalità d'uso: bagnare il tessuto sulla parte da trattare, bagnare il sapone e strofinare sulla macchia. lasciare agire per alcuni minuti. per macchie ostinate lasciare agire per 2-3 ore e ripetere se necessario. Lavare e risciacquare.

sono passati veramente tanti mesi dal mio ultimo post, troppi direi, ma il tempo libero è stato sempre più scarso e la voglia di tornare a condividere sul mio blog non si faceva sentire. Forse dedicando tanto tempo al lavoro gli stimoli mi mancavano.
Recentemente ho pensato, però, che forse basta poco se si ha voglia di voler condividere qualcosa anche se poi questo esula dalla natura del proprio blog. La vita ha molte sfaccettature e perché non dovrebbe averne il blog? .
Nonostante non abbia postato per così tanto tempo non ho tuttavia smesso di venirvi a visitare. l'ho fatto di rado, ahimè, ed in silenzio, ma ho continuato a seguirvi.
Quest'oggi vorrei parlarvi di un sapone a dir poco miracoloso che avevo acquistato qualche tempo fa alla famosa Fiera dei Morti di Perugia che, come di dice il nome, si svolge durante le festività dei Defunti i primi giorni di Novembre. Avevo acquistato questo sapone per la prima volta qualche anno fa in uno degli stand di una delle città gemellate (Aix En Provence) che in questo periodo dell'anno espongono nel centro storico di Perugia. Non avevo prestato particolare attenzione al sapone, ero soltanto alla ricerca di qualche cosa di grazioso da portare con me a casa alla fine della giornata. Avevo acquistato i soliti saponi di Marsiglia per il corpo, qualche deodorante per ambienti, poi mi ero quasi per caso imbattuta in questa barretta di sapone smacchiante alla terra di Sommières con olio essenziale d'arancio. L'etichetta citava le proprietà miracolose di questo sapone a base di argilla adatto per tutti i tessuti e per rimuovere macchie ostinate come frutta, caffè, te, inchiostro, erba, sangue, vino ed altro. Perché non provarlo, mi sono detta, e ne ho comperate alcune barrette con il proposito di regalarne qualcuna anche alle mie amiche.
Nel corso del tempo avevo utilizzato con grande successo questo sapone sulle macchie di frutta e di caffè, ma a questo mi ero limitata, poi il sapone era finito. Lo scorso Novembre sono tornata alla Fiera dei Morti ed ho acquistato un bel numero di barrette da poter regalare a Natale.

Dear friends,
it's been a very long time since my last post, too long indeed, but my free time has been very scarce and my mind was far away from blogland. Didn't think I had things worth sharing in my blog.
Although I wasn't posting I was visiting your blogs from time to time. Not as often as I would loved to and never left ome comment but still I was there. After a while I started considering posting again. The problem though was what to post about, but after all blogging is about sharing so I thought I could just share anything that had a meaning to me even if that was different from the original intent of my blog.
So, today I would like to tell you about a "miracle" Marseille soap with Sommières clay and orange essential oil used to remove stains that I had purchased a few years back at some fair. It comes from Provence and the label was quite interesting promising to remove hard stains such as fruit, coffee, tea, grass, blood, ink and wine.
I got to use the soap to successfully treat hard stains such as fruit and coffee but then the soap finished and I nearly forgot it even existed until last year in November when I visited the same fair and found the soap again on a stall. I brought several bars home with me thinking that I might used some of them as small Christmas gifts.
Fatta questa lunga premessa e per farla breve qualche mese fa ho avuto un incidente in ufficio con una penna biro blue che si è aperta ed ha macchiato pesantemente il mio splendido giacchino trapuntato color ghiaccio, il sottogiacca bianco ed un cardigan di viscosa beige. Non sapendo come togliere le macchie e vista l'importanza dei capi mi sono recata in una lavanderia dove naturalmente si sono rifiutati di trattare le macchie asserendo che l'inchiostro si sarebbe certamente esteso, in modo particolare sul giacchino di poliestere, rendendone poi impossibile l'eliminazione. Non contenta di questa risposta mi sono recata in altre lavanderie ma la risposta era stata sempre la stessa. a questo punto ho deciso di testare il sapone "miracoloso" su queste macchie e, udite udite, queste sono completamente sparite. Nei capi di viscosa il processo è stato abbastanza rapido mentre per il giacchino trapuntato c'è voluta una giornata intera in cui ho applicato il sapone sulle macchie più e più volte a distanza di qualche ora tra una applicazione e l'altra. Le macchie non si vedono più e quello che c'è di bello è che non è rimasto neppure l'alone sulla fodera interna del giacchino.

To make a long story short a few months ago I had an unfortunate incident at work when a BIC broke and I got huge blue ink stains everywhere on my clothes - on a white sweater, on a beige cardigan and worst of all on a white padded blazer. As I'm no domestic goddess and did not have the faintest idea how to remove ink stains from clothes I took my clothes to the dry cleaner's. they refused to treat the stains claiming that ink can hardly be removed and especially on the polyester blazer the stains would bleed through and become way bigger. unhappy with that I took the clothes to several other dry cleaners but the reply was the same. what to do then? It occurred to my that I had the miracle soap so why not test it on ink? it took minutes to remove the stains from the sweater and the cardigan. with the blazer it took me nearly 24 hours since I had to rub the soap several times before the stains came off. now the stains are completely gone. the soap stayed true to it's word.
